About the Role

Talemexa is looking for a skilled and motivated PHP Developer to maintain, enhance, and develop web applications used by our clients. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PHP, Laravel or CodeIgniter, MySQL databases, and modern web development practices.

In this role, you will collaborate with developers, designers, and other stakeholders to build new features, resolve technical issues, improve application performance, and maintain secure and reliable systems. You should be comfortable working with existing codebases, understanding project requirements, and delivering high-quality solutions within agreed timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Maintain Applications: Build, enhance, and maintain PHP-based web applications using Laravel, CodeIgniter, or related frameworks.
Implement New Features: Translate business requirements into functional, efficient, and maintainable application features.
Manage Databases: Design, query, and maintain MySQL databases while ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and performance.
Build and Integrate APIs: Develop and maintain REST APIs to support communication between applications, services, and third-party platforms.
Troubleshoot and Debug: Identify, investigate, and resolve application errors, performance bottlenecks, and technical issues.
Strengthen Application Security: Follow secure coding practices, validate user inputs, manage authentication appropriately, and help protect applications against common web vulnerabilities.
Support Deployments: Assist with application releases, environment configuration, deployment activities, and post-deployment troubleshooting.
Use Version Control: Maintain organized code repositories using Git and collaborate effectively with other developers.
Document Technical Work: Prepare clear technical notes, document changes, and maintain relevant development documentation.
Collaborate Across Teams: Work with project managers, designers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions that meet project requirements.Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
2–5 years of professional experience in PHP development.
Practical experience with Laravel or CodeIgniter frameworks.
Strong understanding of MySQL, database queries, and relational database concepts.
Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
Experience developing or integrating REST APIs.
Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development workflows.
Understanding of web security fundamentals, debugging techniques, and application maintenance.
Ability to understand existing code, investigate problems, and deliver effective solutions.Required Skills and Competencies
