About the Role

Talemexa is seeking an experienced and motivated Python Developer to build APIs, backend services, and data-driven features that power our hiring products. The ideal candidate will have strong Python programming skills, practical experience with Django or FastAPI, and a solid understanding of database design and RESTful API development.

In this role, you will contribute to backend architecture, integrate third-party services, write automated tests, and maintain background processing systems. You will collaborate with other developers and stakeholders to transform product requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Backend Services: Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and services using Python, Django, or FastAPI.
• Build REST APIs: Create well-structured, secure, and efficient RESTful APIs to support product functionality and communication between services.
• Design Database Schemas: Develop and maintain database schemas, relationships, and queries using PostgreSQL while prioritizing data integrity and performance.
• Implement Product Features: Build data-driven features that support Talemexa's hiring products and meet business and user requirements.
• Write Automated Tests: Create and maintain unit tests and integration tests to identify issues early and improve software reliability.
• Integrate External APIs: Connect applications with third-party services and external platforms while handling authentication, errors, and data exchange appropriately.
• Manage Background Jobs: Develop, run, and monitor asynchronous tasks and scheduled jobs using tools such as Celery and Redis where appropriate.
• Review and Improve Code: Participate in code reviews, follow established coding standards, and identify opportunities to improve readability, performance, and maintainability.
• Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Investigate bugs, monitor application behavior, and resolve backend performance and reliability issues.
• Maintain Technical Documentation: Document APIs, application workflows, database structures, and important implementation decisions.
• Collaborate with the Team: Work with developers, product stakeholders, and QA professionals to deliver features within agreed timelines.Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 3 years of professional Python development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Django or FastAPI.
• Strong understanding of REST API design, development, and integration.
• Practical experience with PostgreSQL and relational database concepts.
• Familiarity with Git, branching strategies, and collaborative code review practices.
• Understanding of automated testing, debugging, and software development best practices.
• Experience with Celery and Redis is an advantage.
• Ability to write clean, reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code.
