About the Role

Talemexa is looking for an experienced Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain the services, APIs, and data layers that power our products. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in backend development, experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, Node.js, or .NET, and a solid understanding of databases, REST APIs, and distributed systems.

In this role, you will build reliable backend services, optimize database performance, integrate third-party platforms, and monitor production applications. You will work closely with frontend developers, product managers, QA engineers, and other technical stakeholders to deliver secure and scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Backend Services: Design, build, and maintain backend applications and services using Java, Python, Node.js, .NET, or other relevant technologies.
• Build REST APIs: Develop, document, test, and maintain RESTful APIs that support product features and enable communication between applications.
• Optimize Database Performance: Write efficient SQL queries, analyze database performance, and improve data access, indexing, and query execution.
• Integrate Third-Party Systems: Connect external APIs, platforms, and services while ensuring reliable data exchange and appropriate error handling.
• Improve Scalability: Design backend components that can handle increasing workloads while maintaining responsiveness and stability.
• Strengthen Application Security: Follow secure coding practices, implement appropriate access controls, validate inputs, and help protect sensitive application data.
• Monitor Production Systems: Track application health, investigate errors, analyze logs, and resolve issues affecting system availability or performance.
• Work with Caching and Message Queues: Use technologies such as Redis and message queues to improve response times and support asynchronous processing where appropriate.
• Support Microservices Architecture: Develop and maintain modular services that can be tested, deployed, and scaled efficiently.
• Maintain Code Quality: Write clean, reusable, maintainable code and participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Implement Testing Practices: Create automated tests and follow quality assurance practices to reduce defects and improve reliability.
• Support CI/CD Workflows: Contribute to automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines to streamline software delivery.
• Document Technical Solutions: Maintain clear documentation for APIs, service architecture, database structures, and operational procedures.Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• 3–6 years of professional experience in backend development.
• Strong programming skills in at least one of the following: Java, Python, Node.js, or .NET.
• Practical experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases.
• Familiarity with Redis, caching strategies, message queues, and asynchronous processing.
• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed application design.
• Experience with automated testing, debugging, and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of application security, performance optimization, and production monitoring.
