About Open Legal Inc.

Open Legal Inc. is a pre-seed legaltech startup building an AI-driven platform that simplifies legal service access. The platform matches clients with vetted attorneys through AI-powered intake and matching. The engineering team is small and operates in product pods — this hire will be the founding engineer on the OneClickEFile product.

About The Role

We're looking for a Software Developer who will own the OneClickEFile product end-to-end — taking user feedback from SDRs, building improvements and new features on a Python + React stack, and managing go-to-market tooling. You'll operate as the sole founding engineer on this product pod, working directly with the founder (no PMs, no PRDs).

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the OneClickEFile product in production — backend (Python/Flask/Django/FastAPI) and frontend (React)
  • Translate SDR and user feedback into shipped features and product improvements
  • Manage go-to-market tooling — web analytics, traffic tracking, and product metrics dashboards
  • Leverage AI coding tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex) as a core part of your development workflow
  • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS independently
  • Operate as a self-directed, autonomous engineer — no PM layer, no detailed PRDs

Must Haves

  • Python (Flask, Django, or FastAPI) — demonstrated in at least one live or production role or project
  • React — demonstrated in at least one live or production role or project
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with an AI coding tool (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or equivalent)
  • Founding-engineer or equivalent ownership mindset — can describe owning a product or feature end-to-end without PM or PRD; strong data structures and algorithm fundamentals
  • BTech / BE from a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Engineering institute (Uplers premium institute list)
  • Hands-on AWS experience (deployment, S3, EC2, Lambda, or equivalent services in a real project)

Good to Haves

  • Experience in a regulated industry — legaltech, medtech, fintech, or any domain with sensitive personal data
  • Experience building or owning identity/auth flows (login, user management, access control)
  • Prior exposure to go-to-market tooling — web analytics, traffic tracking, or product metrics dashboards
  • Has shipped a product to production as the primary or sole developer

Work Details

  • Remote — India
  • Evening shift: 5:00 PM IST onwards (flexible); must be your primary and only job
  • Notice period: up to 30 days (immediate joiners preferred)
